network configuration openwrt

after login to our device. we can set the network configuration of the tp-link. Here's the step:

vi /etc/config/network

vi = visual editor to edit file in linux.
/etc/config/ = location of the folder.
network = the configuration file network.


example configuration of mine:




config interface 'loopback'
        option ifname 'lo'
        option proto 'static'
        option ipaddr '127.0.0.1'
        option netmask '255.0.0.0'

config interface 'lan'
        option ifname 'eth0'
        option type 'bridge'
        option proto 'static'
        option ipaddr '192.168.3.10'           -> ip address's our  tplink
        option netmask '255.255.255.0'
        option gateway '192.168.3.1'          -> this should be the source gateway of your internet lan.
        option dns '192.168.3.1 8.8.8.8'  

please match with your local area network setting.   after that press    esc then :wq  to write the change and save it. After that type

/etc/init.d/network restart
or

uci commit network


to restarted the network and commit/run  all our new configuration..




test it by ping to any address. for example ping 8.8.8.8 and ping google.com

if it success then the packet will reply back.....  

congratulations...  we already connected our device to internet.... we can now download some software / library from the repository that can be used for adding some functionality of our device.


nb : if ping 8.8.8.8 works, and ping google.com dont works,  you have to set the dns first.
      it can be done by editting vi /etc/resolv.conf.



now proceed to install extroots to our tplink to move all the instalation of the program to external devices like usb / hardisk that can be found here.
